The Skoda Citigo is Citi-gone

Skoda have announced that their city-car, the Citigo, is to be discontinued.
The Citigo is the Skoda variant of the (very) similar VW Up! and SEAT Mii city-cars. With the removal of the Citigo from the range, the future of the sister models from VW & SEAT will surely also be in question.
The combustion-engined Citigo went off sale at the end of 2019, but the electric version, the Citigo-e iV continued until now. Skoda have sold what existing stock they had and have no plans to produce anymore.

In Ireland, of the three VW Group city-cars, the Up!, Mii & Citigo, the Skoda's sales have been the slowest. Customers who had the means for the more premium VW went down that route and those on a budget, opting for the cheaper SEAT, leaving the Citigo in a no-man's land.
The Citigo was also the first car Skoda had produced in this segment, since coming under the VW-umbrella in 1994. It would have been expected that a car of this type would suit the brand's "budget Volkswagen" brief, but the sales have shown otherwise.
Previously, VW produced the Lupo, the sub-Polo city-car from 1998-2005. At that time, there was also an equivalent from SEAT, the Arosa. Skoda were left out of the party back then. Had they had data from this period, a different decision may have been taken this time around.

Alain Favey, Skoda's sales and marketing chief said, "Citigo is gone - as far as Europe is concerned we are sold out. There will not be a replacement of the Citigo and we have no intention to have a car of this size in the future."
"If one day there is a version of the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform which allows smaller cars to be produced, we would have a Skoda version, but I don’t know about such plans. But as far as the Citigo is concerned, the game is over.” he continued.
Skoda will now focus on the larger products in their range and continue a push to further electrification, highlighted by the launch of their first full, from the ground-up EV, the Enyaq, earlier this week.

A sad departure for the Citigo, so hopefully the Up! and Mii can survive, with their clever and funky small car offerings.
